This home was built in 2007 and includes 2x6 wall construction, spray foam insulation in the walls and against the roof rafters for a sealed attic, Low-e windows, passive solar features (i.e. 10' deep porches on the east and west side of the home and a 2' eave to shade the windows during the summer), a 2 ton Earthlinked direct exchange geothermal system with a hot water ''desuperheater'', an energy recovery ventilator to ensure fresh air, a natural gas tankless water heater, cfl lights throughout the home, Energy Star appliances, and a 6kw solar array (30 panels).
The goal is to achieve net zero energy usage for the home on an annual basis.
